Inspired by the global campaign against sexual harassment and assault, the #MeToo movement gained momentum in India in 2018. Several women from different fields opened up and shared their stories about facing abuse by men in positions of power.
From filmmakers and actors to politicians, men from different fields were called out during this movement. But were there any long lasting repercussions to their careers? Here we take a look at where these men are now:
#MeToo Accused Sajid Khan
Sajid Khan was accused of sexual harassment by more than nine women in 2018. He was accused of: whipping out his private parts and flashing women at parties, talking in sexually degrading ways to women, asking female actors to send nude pictures as part of the casting process, watching porn in front of his female stuff, etc.
Following the accusations, Khan was suspended for a year by the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) in 2018. Now he is all set to return to films with the new movie 100%, which is scheduled to release in 2023.
He is currently participating in Bigg Boss season 16 despite objections from the audience.

Nana Patekar
Actor Tanushree Dutta started the #MeToo movement in India after she accused her ex-co-star Nana Patekar of sexual harassment while shooting for the film 'Horn Ok Please' in October 2018.
He will be making a comeback on the big screen with the movie titled ‘The Confession’ whose teaser was released in April 2022.
MJ Akbar
Journalist and politician MJ Akbar was accused of sexual harassment by journalist Priya Ramani and several other women.
He joined WION, an English TV news channel run by Zee Media in August 2021 reportedly as an Editorial Consultant.
Alok Nath
Actor Alok Nath was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women in 2018. Writer Vinta Nanda also accused Nath of raping her in her house in 1998 after spiking her drink. After that, he appeared in several films including De De Pyaar De (2019), Jai Mata Di (2020), etc.

Kailash Kher
Singer Sona Mohapatra and several other women had accused Kailash Kher of sexually harassing them. Though he hasn't released any notable albums following the allegations, he has been going on tours and concerts.
Other influential Indian men who were accused of #MeToo in the 2018 movement and who still have active careers are Vikas Bahl, Chetan Bhagat, Suhel Seth, Subhash Ghai, etc.
