The name Payal Gaming has recently surfaced across social media platforms, not for her achievements in esports or content creation, but due to claims around a so-called ‘viral video’. As snippets, links and provocative thumbnails circulate rapidly on messaging apps and social networks, fans and digital experts alike are urging caution, warning that the content being shared is likely an AI-generated deepfake designed to mislead and exploit users.
Over the past few days, several posts have claimed that an explicit clip allegedly features Payal Gaming. These posts often redirect users to external links, many of which lead to suspicious websites, adult platforms or pages riddled with pop-ups. Importantly, there is no verified source confirming the authenticity of the video. A large section of Payal Gaming’s fan base has pushed back strongly, stating that the visuals appear manipulated and do not resemble her.

This pattern mirrors a growing trend where popular creators’ identities are misused to bait clicks, drive traffic to unsafe websites, or spread misinformation under the guise of “leaked” content.
Cyber law expert Pavan Duggal has repeatedly warned that deepfake videos are becoming increasingly sophisticated and dangerous. According to Duggal, such clips are often used as part of organised digital scams, where shock value is leveraged to lower users’ guard.
“These videos are not about curiosity; they are about trapping users into malware, phishing links, or financial fraud,” he has previously explained while discussing deepfake misuse in India. Experts stress that even clicking on or sharing such links can compromise personal data.

India does not yet have a deepfake-specific statute, but existing laws offer protection. Under the Information Technology Act, 2000, publishing or transmitting obscene or sexually explicit content without consent is a punishable offence. Sections related to identity theft, impersonation and cyber defamation can also be invoked in deepfake cases.

Additionally, the IT Rules, 2021 require social media platforms to act swiftly on complaints involving morphed images, impersonation and non-consensual content. Platforms can be held accountable if they fail to take down such material within the stipulated timelines after being notified.
Payal Dhare, popularly known as Payal Gaming, began her YouTube journey in 2019 and quickly rose to prominence with streams of games like GTA V, PUBG and Battlegrounds Mobile India. Known for breaking barriers in a male-dominated space, she is associated with S8UL Esports and has collaborated with leading names in the Indian gaming ecosystem.
Her accolades include becoming the first Indian female gamer to cross major subscriber milestones and winning international recognition at the MOBIES in 2024, along with multiple Creator of the Year honours.

Digital safety experts advise users to avoid clicking on unverified links, refrain from sharing sensational claims, and report misleading content directly on platforms. As AI tools evolve, misinformation campaigns are becoming harder to detect, making digital literacy more crucial than ever.
