The lunar eclipse of 2023, also known as Chandra Grahan 2023, will be seen between October 28, 2023, when the moon rises, to October 29, 2023, when it sets.
According to Indian rituals, the lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan), is one of the most auspicious occasions. It is also significant in the field of science. This will happen on October 28, 2023, and October 29, 2023. It will begin at 11:32 pm on October 28, 2023, and end at 3:26 am on October 29, 2023. Many regions of the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, North America, East and North South America, the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian Ocean, the Arctic, and Antarctica, will be able to see this lunar eclipse.
The period known as Sutak starts around nine hours before the Chandra Grahan or Lunar Eclipse. Drikpanchang says that it is an inauspicious time before Surya Grahan and Chandra Grahan. Let us know what our expert Astrologer Pandit Arvind Tripathi says about what to do with food before and after Sutak period:
As per NASA, A partial lunar eclipse is a phenomenon when the Moon only partially disappears into the shadow of the Earth. This happens when there is an uneven straight-line alignment between the Earth, Moon, and Sun. (Margashirsha Purnima: Shubh Muhurat And Significance)
Whether it's a lunar or solar eclipse, eating is prohibited. Because of the increased effect of germs and negative influences throughout that period. Thus, food can make a person sick during this period, but children, the ill and the elderly can eat basil by adding it to their diet at this time. Tulsi leaves need to be added to food items until a lunar eclipse occurs.

Making Kheer on this day is considered good. It is believed that on this day the moon is filled with Kalkriti. Therefore, it is a tradition to keep kheer out on the terrace during the evening on this particular day.
If you have cooked and eaten food before the eclipse and there is leftover food, you can keep it by adding Tulsi (Health Benefits Of Tulsi Leaves) to it. That food won't need to be thrown out; it will stay pure. When the Sutak period is about to begin, or before the moon eclipse, add basil leaves to food and drink and cover tightly. This will stay pure and not contaminate the food. You can eat that food later also.
