According to the Islamic calendar, Ashura falls on the 10th day of Muharram while as per the Gregorian calendar, Ashura begins on the evening of July 16, 2024, and is observed on July 17, 2024. Muslims worldwide commemorate this day by engaging in religious activities to honour the martyrdom of Hussain Ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.

One of the most prominent activities you must indulge in on Ashura is fasting. According to Islamic scriptures, Prophet Muhammad also observed a fast on this day, and hence, it is recommended to all Islam followers to do the same.
Ashura 2024: Prayers and Namaz E Ashura
Muslims recite prayers to honour the martyr and his legacy. They are recommended to continuously chant Ziarat Ashura, Dua Alqama, and Surah Ikhlas. It is a tradition to recite Kalima Tauheed after Isha Namaz during the initial ten nights of Muharram.
