Mouni Roy's Birthday: From Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi To Sharing Screen With SRK

Mouni Roy, the Hindi actor who has been making headlines for her performance in the recent Hindi film Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva, is turning 37 today, September 28, 2022. She plays the antagonist in the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer fantasy action adventure film, which is directed by Ayan Mukerji.

Born in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar in a Bengali family, Roy debuted in the acting industry in the popular Hindi daily soap Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in 2006. She went on to work in several Hindi serials including Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev (2011), Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq and participated in Zara Nachke Dikha (2008), Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 (2014), Box Cricket League 2 (2016) and Lip Sing Battle (2017).

Roy gained more popularity after starring in the Hindi serial Naagin in 2015 and became one of the highest paid actors in the television industry. She made her debut in the Hindi film industry with the 2018 Akshay Kumar starrer Gold. Following which, she starred in John Abraham and Jackie Shroff starrer 2019 film Romeo Akbar Walter, Made in China and also appeared in the popular item song Gali Gali in the hit pan-India film KGF: Chapter 1.

Her biggest break came in when Mukerji roped Roy for playing the antagonist in Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva and netizens couldn't stop praising her performance. The film also stars Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role, Amitabh Bachchan, and Nagarjuna. In an interview with The Quint, Roy shared her experience of working on the sets of Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva and sharing the screen with Khan after over two years of shooting the film. “Everybody told me that memorise your lines properly and come and all. I was like okay because we come from television and we are used to memorising pages after pages and I have done all of that and I am fully prepared and I remember all my lines and in the first word, I have fumbled. What do you do, it's Shah Rukh Khan,” she recalled. Roy called it an “out of body” experience working with Khan.
