In a shocking case of ragging, five third-year nursing students from a government college in Kerala have been arrested for allegedly subjecting their juniors to months of brutal physical and mental abuse. According to reports, the victims were stripped naked, had dumbbells tied to their private parts, were stabbed with geometry box compasses, and were repeatedly beaten.
The incident occurred at Government Nursing College in Kottayam, where three first-year students from Thiruvananthapuram lodged a formal complaint with the Kottayam Gandhinagar police. Their complaint detailed a horrifying pattern of violence that began in November 2024 and lasted for nearly three months.

The students detailed a three-month-long ordeal of severe physical and mental abuse that began in November 2024.
Following the complaint, the accused seniors were suspended and arrested under the Anti-Ragging Act. According to the police, the first-year students were forced to strip naked while dumbbells were hung from their private parts. They were also injured with sharp objects, including a geometry compass.
The torment didn't end there. Lotion was applied to their wounds, intensifying their pain, and when they screamed in agony, their seniors forcibly smeared the lotion into their mouths. Reports indicate that these acts were filmed, and the victims were threatened with academic repercussions if they spoke out.
Additionally, the seniors allegedly extorted money from the juniors every Sunday to buy alcohol, and those who refused to pay were beaten. The relentless harassment finally prompted one victim to confide in his father, who urged him to take the matter to the police.

A shocking video has surfaced a day after five students from a nursing college in Kottayam, Kerala, were arrested for ragging their juniors. The video shows a junior student being brutally tortured, highlighting how ragging continues despite strict laws.
In the disturbing footage, the victim is seen tied to a bed, screaming in pain while another student repeatedly pokes him with a sharp compass. His body has multiple wounds, and a white lotion is poured over them, making the pain worse. The attackers also pour the lotion into his eyes and mouth. At one point, they place a dumbbell on his private parts, and cloth clips are attached to his nipples, with one of the seniors pulling at them. The victim keeps crying out in pain, while his tormentors laugh in the background, as reported by NDTV.

Following the complaint, the accused students have been suspended. They have been identified as Samuel Johnson (20), Rahul Raj (22), Jeeva (18), Rijil Jith (20), and Vivek (21). This shocking case of ragging in Kottayam comes shortly after the tragic suicide of a 15-year-old schoolboy in Kochi, reportedly due to ragging.
Mihir Ahammed’s mother, Rajna PM, claimed that her son was physically assaulted, verbally harassed, and even forced to lick a toilet seat at school, an ordeal that ultimately pushed him to take his own life.
