On Sunday, the whole country came together to show their collective support against the novel coronavirus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed the citizens of the country to light candles, diyas, smartphones flashlights or torches, for nine minutes at 9 PM to show India’s unity in defeating COVID-19. “The light from the lamps will show that we are together in this battle,” said PM Modi. Not only the commoners but almost all the Bollywood stars also came forward to show their support towards PM Modi’s initiative. Clad in white kurta pajama and a red waistcoat, Amitabh Bachchan was seen lighting a torch towards the sky. Taking to his twitter handle, he shared a series of snaps with his fans, wherein he can be seen in all smiles as he is lighting the torch. Alongside the pictures, he quoted a line from his father’s Harivansh Rai Bachchan poem. “T 3492 -" है अँधेरी रात पर दीवा जलाना कब माना है " ... another epic poem of my Father .. and how visionary it has proven tonight .. for the #9PM9minute call .. Will put up the entire poem by tomorrow .. on video !!Red heart,” he wrote.
Megastar Shah Rukh Khan along with his wife and youngest son AbRam Khan participated in the 9 pm 9minutes by lighting diyas at his residence, Mannat. While the couple was not seen in the video the shared on social media, Gauri Khan captured little AbRam doing his bit to show the support. “9 pm .. Lego Dia@Cogsnitisheth,” Gauri captioned the monochromatic clip of her son.
The Bachchans know exactly how to show their collective support towards a noble cause. Not only senior, but junior Bachchan also lit diyas during the 9-minutes and participated in the imitative. Aishwarya shared a snap along with husband Abhishek and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, where they can be seen standing next to a diya that was lit in the temple of their residence.
Alia Bhatt shared a photo that shows her holding two candles in her hand. While she participated in the light-a-candle initiative, the actress also shared a sweet childhood incidence with her with father. Taking to her Instagram handle she wrote, “When I was younger I would kiss my dad on his forehead before going off to school and after every kiss he would say “ Aaaaaah .. light aa gayi “ I might have not fully understood what it meant back then.. but because of his response I understood that light has wayyyyyy more depth than just illuminating our lives. Light means so much. It’s hope, beauty, strength.. today it was unity.. But no matter where we are and what we are going through we must always try and keep the light within us alive.”

Known for supporting her support towards all the social causes, actress Kangana Ranaut was also seen enjoying lighting the diyas with her family. During the whole lockdown period, Katrina has been seen entertaining and educating her fans and followers with several posts, showcasing her exercising, cleaning and practicing her hobbies. The actress also participated in the 9 PM 9 minutes initiative. Ace director Karan Johar also participated in the PM Modi’s recent initiative to show India’s united effort against the novel coronavirus. He along with his children Roohi and Yash were seen lighting a smartphone’s flashlight on their terrace. The director-anchor uploaded a video on his official twitter handle and wrote, “Let there be light.....there is light at the end of this dark tunnel....”

Akshay Kumar has been doing his bit to inform and urge his fans about the current lockdown period due to the pandemic of the novel coronavirus. The actor also participated in the PM’s light-a-candle initiative on Sunday night by lighting a candle in his balcony.
