Karwa Chauth 2025 Rituals

The fasting rituals for Karwa Chauth are elaborate and a strict observance of tradition:

• Sargi: The fast begins with a pre-dawn meal called "sargi," which is traditionally prepared and given to the daughter-in-law by her mother-in-law. The meal consists of nourishing food and sweets to help the woman sustain her fast throughout the day.
• Nirjala Vrat: The fast is a "nirjala" fast, meaning women do not consume any food or water from sunrise until moonrise.
