A Mughal-e-Azam themed flash mob painted New York City’s Times Square red by bringing all the desi music and dance that brought in a sense of desi art and culture to the internationally renowned locale.

A Mughal-e-Azam themed flash mob that took New York City’s Times Square by storm shows a video of the performance that went viral on the internet. The clip depicts a group of Kathak dancers beautifully dancing to the tunes of the song ‘Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’ from the iconic yesteryear Bollywood movie, ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ at the famous New York intersection.

In the clip posted on the gram, several girls were seen wearing Anakrkali style suits and hats before they sprung into a dance. A huge crowd soon gathered around the classical dancers to catch a glimpse of the breathtaking performance.

The one-of-a-kind flash mob was organised as a part of promotions of a show named ‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ which will be staged in New York City next month. The musical draws inspiration and is based on the 1960 film by the same name that was helmed by legendary director K Asif. The excellent team behind the show are currently on a North American tour showcasing their musical across cities in the United States of America and Canada.

Indian rappers, pop stars and musicians such as Divine, Raja Kumari, Armaan Malik and more have previously done the nation proud by getting featured on the Times Square Billboard in the past. Divine featured on the iconic chartbuster list for his album ‘Punya Paap’, Armaan Malik made it to the Billboard for his song ‘Tumko Toh Aana Hi Tha’ in the year 2014 which was featured in the Salman Khan starrer ‘Jai Ho’.
