New Delhi: On Thursday, the Indian Army Veterans Half Marathon, Honour Run, was announced in the capital. The event was held at the Manekshaw Centre, and it showcased the vision of the Kartan Risar initiative, which aims at building a strong bridge between veterans, gallant soldiers, and citizens of the country.

The official release states that the event was designed to create a unique platform so that everyone can connect, share experiences, and build respect for each other.

“Today marks the significant unveiling of the Honor Run, which is not only an athletic event, it is a tribute, a statement and a celebration." Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar announced during the program highlighting the intrinsic value of recognising the unmatched bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers.

Emphasising the role of the Honour Run, he said that it will allow civilians to connect with veterans as they will narrate their stories of camaraderie and valour. “In return, our veterans will get the opportunity to appreciate the indispensable contribution of ordinary citizens in nation-building,” he added.

The event will take place on the 25th anniversary, silver jubilee, of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, which commemorates the victory of India over Pakistan during the Kargil War in Ladakh in 1999. It will no longer be a race but a heartfelt tribute to our heroes who saved the country and sacrificed their lives so that we could live safely.

Renowned personalities were present at the event, including Golden Boy Avinash Sable, first Blade Runner Major DP Singh, Captain Vikram Batra's brother, Mr Vishal Batra, PVC and fitness advocate Gul Panag. It symbolised widespread support and enthusiasm for the Honour Run. It will be the noble mission of running.
