DCW Chief Not Satisfied With Delhi Police's Action
In a recent statement, DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said that the Delhi accident case must be transferred to the CBI. She is not satisfied with Delhi Police's action. The team has also not recovered Nidhi's (Singh's friend, pillion rider and eye witness) phone yet. According to Maliwal, it would one of the crucial shreds of evidence.
Two More People Involved
The Delhi Police has revealed that in the hit and run case, two more people were involved apart from the five accused in the case. They tried to cover up for the men in the Baleno. They are responsible for misleading the police.
New Video Surfaces, Raises More Suspicion
A new CCTV footage from in front of the victim's fiend's house has surfaced where she is seen knocking at the door accompanied by a man who is standing at a distance.
Earlier today, ythe friend Nidhi told media that she was the pillion rider and was present at the moment of the accident. After a CCTV footage surfaced earlier where the victim, Anjali Singh, is seen having a tiff with Nidhi in front of a hotel, the Delhi Police found her out and registered her statement as an eye-witness in the case.
In her statement, Anjali insisted on partying the night together welcoming new year together and that the both of them went for drinking. She further said that the CCTV footage that show them fighting was because Anjali wanted to drive the scooty despite being "drunk". Following which, on their way to return home, the Baleno hit them and she fled from the scene as she was very scared.
However, Anjali's grandmother Kanta Devi refuted Nidhi's statement and said that she doesn't believe her as she is giving false statements.
Autopsy Report In Clash With Frend's Statement
In contrary to Nidhi's statment where she claimed Anjali was drunk on the night of the accident, the autopsy report has was no mention of alcohol in her stomach. The report has shown food in her stomach, 40 external injuries, and fractured skull. Following the autopsy report, Delhi police ruled out sexual assault possibility as well.
Accused Knew Woman Was Stuck Under Car
In the recent developments, Anjali Singh's friend recounted horror of the night. She said that the accused knew they have hit the scooty which made the two women fall. They were also aware that Singh was stuck under their car but they dragged the body anyway.
The pillion rider also confessed that she was horrified to help, ask for help or even lodge a complaint with the police. She added that they both were attending a party at a hotel, and when they were supposed to come back, they had an argument about who would ride the scooty. Though Singh was drunk, she insisted on driving. The eye witness also said that they nearly escaped hitting a truck, but before they could switch the riders, the Baleno hit them, and Singh met the unfortunate end.
Assault Or Hit & Run?
Singh succumbed to her injuries, but she was not alone. Her friend also suffered injuries, but was able to flee the scene. CCTV footage showed that the accused were driving the car with the body under it.
The car took a U-turn and kept going. Singh’s body was found a couple of hours after the incident. Her leg got stuck in the axle, and she could not escape unlike her friend.
Although the police are convinced that it was a hit-and-run case, a purported video on social media has allegedly shown that the woman had no clothes and had a broken leg. The victim’s family is alleging that it was a sexual assault and their daughter was murdered after that.
