Chhath Puja is one of the key Indian festivals celebrated mainly in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. This year, the celebration will begin on November 5 and continue till November 8, 2024. In observance of this significant festival, the banks will remain closed for four consecutive days next week coinciding with the second Saturday and Sunday.
November 7th: On the occasion of Chhath Puja evening Arghya, the banks will be closed in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, and Bengal.
November 8th: For the Chhath Puja (Morning Arghya) & Wangala Festival, the banks will be closed in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya.
November 9th & 10th: Banks across the country will be closed on the second Saturday and Sunday.
According to RBI website, the banks will remain closed during Diwali Amavasya (Laxmi Pujan), Kut festival, Kannada Rajyotsava, Balipadyami, Vikram Samvat New Year Day, Chhath (Evening Arghya), Chhath (Morning Arghya)/Wangala Festival, Egaas-Bagwaal, Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima/Rahas Purnima, Kanakadasa Jayanti, Seng Kutsnem.
Bank Holiday on November 12, 2024: The eastern states of Uttarakhand will observe bank holidays on the occasion of Egaas-Bagwaal.
Bank Holiday on November 15, 2024: On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima/Rahas Purnima, banks will remain closed in some states including Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad – Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar.
Bank Holiday on November 18, 2024: Banks will be closed in Karnataka on Kanakadasa Jayanti.
Bank Holiday on November 23, 2024: In Meghalaya, banks will be closed on the occasion of Seng Kutsnem.
