Brahmastra- Ranbir-Alia Starrer Has Highest Non-Holiday Opening Day Of All Time

After record advance bookings, Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has made the highest collection at the box office on a non-holiday opening for original Hindi film after Bahubali- The Conclusion. The film has collected around Rs 35-36 crore nett on Friday, September 9, 2022, itself. The collection of the Telugu version of the film was around Rs 3.75 crore nett and other places that did good business was Delhi NCR, Kolkata and Chandigarh.

Filmmaker Karan Johar took to social media and shared that the film has collected Rs 75 crore gross on its opening day at the box office worldwide. Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva has recorded historic numbers overseas especially in US/Canada as it crossed $ 3 million mark overseas on the first day including paid previews.  

As per Box Office India, the opening of the Alia-Ranbir starrer is easily the biggest for original Hindi content after beating the numbers of Sooryavanshi which was released on a national holiday. Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva has also recorded the second highest opening day post-pandemic with KGF: Chapter 2 at the highest.

The film is expected to show growth of around 10% on Saturday, Spetember 10, 2022 and expec ted to collect  Rs 36-37 crore nett. If that happens then the film will close to Rs 70 crore nett on Saturday and will witness an easy Rs 100 crore nett plus weekend.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva is touted to be one of Bollywood's costliest films with a budget of ₹400 crores. But, everyone looked forward to the film’s release because of the boycott trend that affected several Bollywood films to an unexpected level in the last few months. Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva has been facing boycott on social media for several reasons. From nepotism in the industry to old videos of Kapoor allegedly disrespecting women, claiming to enjoy eating beef, and making an insensitive joke about Bhatt’s pregnancy, the film and the actors have been facing boycotts for all kinds of reasons.

However, a couple of days ahead of the film’s release, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva had beaten two of the biggest box-office hits of 2022, RRR and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy, among others in pivotal roles. The film is a fantasy adventure serving as the first in the Brahmastra trilogy as part of its own cinematic universe titled Astraverse.
