In Bihar’s Kaimur district, a woman, along with four others, allegedly sacrificed a two-year-old child in a ritualistic act, believing it would aid her daughter in conceiving, according to police reports. The five accused were arrested on February 6, 2025. The child had been missing since January 22, and a week later, on January 29, authorities discovered the decomposed body buried in a pit north of Kudra railway station, confirmed Kaimur Superintendent of Police (SP) Hari Mohan Shukla.
Bihar Woman Kills Toddler In Brutal Sacrifice
Bihar Police have arrested five people in connection with the alleged ritualistic killing of a two-year-old boy in Kaimur district. According to Hindustan Times, the woman at the centre of the case, driven by superstitious beliefs, sacrificed the child in hopes of helping her daughter conceive. Officials confirmed the arrests on February 6, 2025.
The toddler, missing since January 22, was found dead a week later in a pit near Kudra railway station. Police believe an exorcist, who is currently on the run, influenced the woman. She allegedly strangled the child and severed his legs using a grader machine, which has been seized. Efforts are underway to arrest the exorcist, said SP Hari Mohan Shukla.
According to police, the two-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district had travelled with his mother to Lalapur locality to attend his uncle’s wedding at his maternal grandmother’s house. On January 22, 2025, he went missing while playing outside, leading his uncle, Ajay Pal, to file a missing persons report at Kudra police station.
Using electronic surveillance and ground intelligence, police identified the suspects. Following an interrogation, they arrested Munni Kunwar, her son Avinash Kumar, his friend Ankit Kumar, Laxmina Devi, and her son Parasnath Pal, Hindustan Times reported.

Bihar Woman's Interrogation
During interrogation, Munni Kunwar broke down and revealed that her married daughter was unable to conceive despite multiple medical treatments. She claimed her daughter was tortured by her husband and in-laws, who even threatened to remarry due to her infertility, a police officer stated.
Munni allegedly sought help from an exorcist who assured her that sacrificing a young boy would enable her daughter to conceive a son. She, along with Laxmina Devi and Ankit Kumar, planned the abduction. On January 22, Ankit and Parasnath Pal kidnapped the child from outside his maternal grandmother’s house and handed him over to Munni. After the ritualistic killing, Laxmina disposed of the body in the bushes.
According to SP Hari Mohan Shukla, the accused later covered the mud flooring where the sacrifice took place with concrete to destroy evidence.

This shocking incident shows how dangerous superstitions can be and why education is so important. Even with all the progress in science and medicine, many people still believe in harmful rituals, leading to tragic events. Teaching people to think logically and spreading awareness, especially in rural areas, can help stop such practises.
