Unfortunately, it also led to her tragic demise as she fell into a gorge while filming a video. The 27-year-old travel influencer from Mumbai lost her life while recording an Instagram Reel at the renowned Kumbhe Waterfall in Maharashtra's Raigad district. According to reports from NDTV, an official from the Mangaon police station stated that Kamdar, who lived in Mumbai’s Mulund area, had visited the scenic waterfall with her friends to enjoy the monsoon season.
Who Was Aanvi Kamdar?
Aanvi Kamdar was a professional chartered accountant and a well-known social media influencer celebrated for her engaging reels. According to her LinkedIn profile, she had also been employed at Deloitte, a prominent IT/Technology consulting firm. On social media, she was followed by celebrities like Arjun Kapoor and Sharvari, and her accounts reflected her love for travel and sharing unique experiences.

Kamdar was particularly known for her posts about monsoon tourism. Known as @theglocaljournal with a following of over 263,000 on Instagram, her bio described her as a ‘travel detective,’ highlighting her discoveries of luxury spots, cafes, itineraries, tips, and vibes. She frequently shared content that captivated her audience, which showed her adventurous spirit and dedication to exploring new places.
Kamdar's influence extended beyond her Instagram presence. She was admired for her ability to find and showcase hidden gems, and her travel tips were highly valued by her followers.
Aanvi Kamdar Dies After Falling Into 300-foot Gorge In Maharashtra
Aanvi Kamdar, aged 27 and well-known on Instagram, was enjoying a rainy season excursion with seven friends when she slipped into a steep 300-foot crevice close to the renowned Kumbhe Waterfall in Mangaon, Raigad district, a police official reported on Wednesday, as per NDTV. Her friends quickly alerted the authorities, prompting a swift response from the police and the fire and rescue team. After a 6-hour rescue operation, Aanvi was retrieved from the gorge. She was sent to a nearby medical facility but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Upon learning the news, social media users filled Aanvi Kamdar's final reel with condolences. One user expressed disbelief, saying, "I can’t believe it. This is deeply saddening and has kept me up all night. She was one of the kindest people I knew." Another user remembered her warmly, commenting, "The girl with the warmest heart & most humble smile." A third user shared their shock, saying, "I am so shook by the news. You were always the chirpy and kind person and I used to keep coming back to your page for any travel tips.”

Just two days before her tragic accident, Aanvi Kamdar posted her final Instagram reel, where she shared recommendations for the upcoming long weekend on August 15, 2024.

In response to the incident, authorities have warned tourists to exercise extreme caution when visiting waterfalls, particularly during the monsoon season.
