Pay close attention to how his mood shifts when you are out together in social settings. If a stranger compliments you, or if you receive positive attention from friends and colleagues, a jealous boyfriend will often shut down, become sullen, or pick an unrelated argument soon after. Instead of feeling proud to be by your side, he views the outside attention as a threat to his position in your life or feels completely overshadowed by you.

Statements like ‘They only offered you that opportunity because they like having a pretty face around’ are designed to diminish your sense of competence and make you feel entirely superficial.

While some people are genuinely camera-shy, a partner who is insecure about the visual contrast between the two of you might actively avoid documentation. He may refuse to take photos together at events or look noticeably uncomfortable when you try to snap a couple's picture. This often stems from a fear of comparison, where he worries that others will look at the photo and question how he managed to be with you, feeding directly into his personal loop of inadequacy.
