After several delays, Diljit Dosanjh-starrer 'Satluj' finally arrived on Zee5 without any cuts. Unfortunately, the movie was removed from the OTT platform within two days after its release, sparking strong reactions from the audience. Here's what ZEE5 and Diljit Dosanjh said after Satluj was removed in India. 

Why was Satluj removed from ZEE5?

As several viewers tuned in to watch Satluj on ZEE5, they were shocked to see that the movie is not available in India. ZEE5 released an official statement following this action, saying that the movie will be unavailable in India until further notice.

Expressing gratitude towards the audience, ZEE5 said, "The response to Satluj since its release has been truly overwhelming. We are deeply grateful to every viewer who chose to subscribe, watch, and champion the film. Your love and support have meant a great deal to us and to everyone who brought this story to life."

Confirming the removal of Satluj, the statement further added, "In light of the current developments, Satluj will be unavailable in India until further notice. We remain committed to exploring every appropriate avenue through due process to bring the film back to our audiences at the earliest opportunity. Our commitment to creators and to stories told with conviction, artistic integrity and purpose remains unwavering."

How did Diljit Dosanjh react to Satluj being taken down?

After ZEE5 removed Satluj, Diljit Dosanjh shared a scene from the film on his Instagram page. He wrote, "I challenge the darkness. Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra Ji #Panjab95 SATLUJ Naal V Oh Hee Hoyea Jo Khalra Saab Naal Hoyea". For the unversed, the film is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.

In an earlier interview with Variety India, Diljit revealed that he had to take a week off after completing Satluj to process everything he went through while playing the role of Jaswant Singh Khalra.

What is Satluj about?

Previously titled Punjab 95, the movie is set in 1995 and follows the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who risked his life to uncover the involvement of the Punjab Police in alleged killings and cremation of over 25000 people. The movie also stars Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan in the pivotal roles.
