    Let's look at the Bollywood movies that have depicted stories of couples who went from arch enemies to friends to lovers, and gave you hope that you could too as Valentine's Day draws near. Here are five such Bollywood movies for you to watch on February 14, 2023, from Hum Tum to Ishaqzaade.

    Hum Tum

    The 2004 Yash Raj Films’ film Hum Tum starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerjee was one of those iconic films that we 90s kids grew up watching. It is about one of Bollywood’s favourite genres where the lovers hate each other in the beginning so much that they cannot stand each other’s existence before they eventually fall in love with each other. In the film, two people repeatedly run into each other under a variety of circumstances, from friendly to hostile to amicable to love. The two develop a dislike for one another over many years and numerous encounters, then eventually become friends and fall in love with one another.

    Street Dancer 3D 

    Directed by dancer and choreographer Remo D’Souza, this 2020 Bollywood dance film stars Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. When the time comes to participate in an international dance competition, two rival dance groups from India and Pakistan, who are constantly competing against one another join forces. Dhawan’s character belongs to India’s troupe while Kapoor’s belongs to Pakistan’s. They face off against each other as arch rivals on multiple occasions. However, eventually, they fall in love. 

    Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela 

    The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed tragic romantic action film Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead. The film portrays how the two lovers belonging to families who were arch enemies for generations fell in love with each other and stood by it as the world tried to pull them apart. The film, a tale of love, lust, and drama, is a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet with an Indian twist. 


    The 2012 romantic action drama film Ishaqzaade, also the Bollywood debut of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, is one of the best examples of a plot where arch enemies-turned-lovers. Both belong to rival political parties and also have religious differences as Kapoor’s character belongs to the Hindu religion and Chopra’s is Muslim. Somewhere between pointing guns at each other, they fall in love.

    Tara vs Bilal

    Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonia Rathee, the recent Bollywood film Tara vs Bilal is a tale of two people fighting like Tom and Jerry and eventually falling in love. Set in London, Tara and Bilal meet each other in some tragic situations and begin on a wrong note. However, eventually they enter a fake marriage and later fall in love.
