The Taj Story Twitter Review: The Taj Story, which hit cinemas today (October 31, 2025), has sparked a flurry of reactions online. The courtroom drama, directed by Tushar Amrish Goel and produced by Suresh Jha, stars veteran actor Paresh Rawal alongside Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, Namit Das, and Sneha Wagh. Marketed as a ‘historical legal thriller,’ the film explores 'questions and secrets buried behind the 22 sealed doors of the Taj Mahal.'

While the makers claimed the story focuses on historical mysteries, early viewers found little to praise. Social media is abuzz with mixed reviews, from outright mockery to calls for introspection.

The Taj Story Twitter Review

The film’s first reactions on X (formerly Twitter) reveal sharp polarisation among audiences.

Bhargav Reddy (@Bhargav86747467) wrote, “#TheTajStory is a sleep-inducing disaster!😴 Director confused history with fiction & still failed. Script dull, acting lifeless, music torture. Even my remote wanted to escape halfway!😂 Such films should come with a free pillow!⭐️ 1/5.”

Zohaib Shah 🇵🇰 (@Zohaib4Sweety) echoed similar sentiments, “#TheTajStoryFirstReview 1.5/5⭐ Disastrous. It’s not only a problematic propaganda film, but also extremely poor and forceful in acting & direction.”

On the other hand, a few users praised its intent, Basupalli Naveen Reddy (@Now_InReddy) called it “brilliantly written,” saying the film “reflects the doubts and heartlines of millions questioning the sanitised history we’ve been taught.”

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel tweeted that audiences are calling the film “unbelievable” and “the most important movie of the year.”

The Taj Story Controversy: From Posters to Petitions

The controversy around ‘The Taj Story’ predates its release. Its motion poster, showing a Shiva idol emerging from the Taj dome, triggered outrage, with many accusing the filmmakers of promoting the debunked ‘Tejo Mahalaya’ theory. Following backlash, the team deleted the poster and issued a disclaimer stating the film “doesn’t deal with any religious issue” and focuses only on “historical facts.”

Matters escalated when BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Singh from Ayodhya filed a complaint with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the CBFC. Singh alleged that the film’s story was based on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) he filed in 2022, which sought to open 22 sealed rooms inside the Taj Mahal to verify its origins. He claimed the filmmakers used his petition without consent, calling it “a violation of my intellectual and legal rights.”

Filmmakers Respond Amid Growing Backlash

Following repeated accusations of historical distortion, Paresh Rawal and the makers issued a joint statement clarifying that the movie “does not deal with religion or mythology” and only attempts to present “historical questions through fiction.”

Despite these clarifications, the film remains mired in controversy. Some view it as a bold piece of courtroom drama, while others see it as politically charged and historically misleading.
