Vikrant Massey, known for tapping into hard-hitting realities is back to screens to narrate a tragic incident that impacted India’s socio-cultural fabric. The trailer of The Sabarmati Express is out. The film starring Vikrant, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles promises to uncover the truth behind the heart-breaking fire incident on the Sabarmati Express, which occurred on the morning of February 27, 2002, near the Godhra railway station in Gujarat. The film also delves into the Hindi-English debate. The movie is set to release in theatres on November 15, 2024.
The Sabarmati Report Trailer
The trailer shows Vikrant in the role of a Hindi-speaking investigative journalist who is sidelined by an English-speaking journalist, Ridhi. The gripping 2-minute and 52-second trailer begins with Vikrant walking with alcohol in his hand, narrating “Bharat ka rehne vala hu, Bharat i baat sunata hu” (I am an inhabitant of India, and I tell stories of India). He looks up to his senior Ridhi, however, the following incident changes his life completely. As Ridhi allegedly covered up the traumatic reality he experienced during the Godhra train incident while reporting, he became a victim of substance abuse in the aftermath. However, his life took a turn when another reporter entered his life to showcase his side of the story.
As most know, the Sabarmati fire incident remains disputed today. While one side claims it to be an accident, the other side believes it to be a well-planned act of arson committed by a thousand-strong Muslim mob.
