The latest weekend proved disappointing for Bollywood as two major releases failed to ignite the box office. Ajay Devgn's comedy sequel ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ and the romantic drama ‘Dhadak 2’ starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri both struggled to attract audiences during their opening weekend.
According to Sacnilk reports, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ has managed to collect ₹27.34 crores in its first five days, maintaining a clear lead over its competitor. The film opened with ₹7.25 crores on Friday, showing modest growth over the weekend.

The Ajay Devgn starrer witnessed a 13.79% increase on Saturday, earning ₹8.25 crores, followed by another 12.12% jump on Sunday with ₹9.25 crores. However, the film faced a massive 72.97% drop on Monday, collecting only ₹2.5 crores. Tuesday's collection further plummeted to just ₹0.09 crores.
‘Dhadak 2’ has performed significantly weaker, collecting only ₹12.86 crores over five days. The film opened with ₹3.5 crores on Friday, showing minimal growth during the weekend.
The romantic drama saw a modest 7.14% increase on Saturday with ₹3.75 crores, followed by a 10.67% rise on Sunday, earning ₹4.15 crores. Like its competitor, ‘Dhadak 2’ also experienced a sharp decline on Monday, dropping 66.27% to collect ₹1.4 crores. Tuesday's earnings fell to ₹0.06 crores.

‘Son of Sardaar 2’ has maintained its advantage throughout the five days, collecting more than double the amount earned by ‘Dhadak 2.’ While both films showed weekend growth, the Monday crash was devastating for both releases, indicating limited audience appeal beyond the initial weekend rush.
The Ajay Devgn film benefited from higher opening day numbers and better weekend holds, though neither movie managed to sustain momentum into the weekdays.
The comedy sequel features Ajay Devgn alongside Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Sanjay Mishra in prominent roles. The film marks a poignant note as it includes the late actor Mukul Dev, who passed away on May 23, 2025, just months before the release.
The original ‘Son of Sardaar’, released in 2012, featured Sonakshi Sinha, Juhi Chawla, and Sanjay Dutt in key roles, and had collected ₹105.1 crores during its theatrical run.
‘Dhadak 2’ presents a narrative centred on caste discrimination and social issues through the love story of two law students. The Dharma Productions venture serves as a spiritual successor to the 2018 film ‘Dhadak,’ which launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter.
