If you are a hopeless romantic, then Bollywood films are your guilty pleasure. And what’s a better occasion than the season of love, Valentine's Day, to celebrate with the best of Hindi romantic cinema.
Humans are suckers for romance and happy endings and nothing can satisfy their guilty pleasure more than fictional romance. Romantic classics in Hindi cinema like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and other Shah Rukh Khan films are everybody's go-tos. But just like Pathaan is celebrating SRK’s return to action, we can look for romance in other corners of Bollywood.
From Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, here are five romantic Bollywood films that you can watch with your partner in case you are planning to stay in this Valentine’s Day.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
The 2013 coming-of-age romantic comedy drama film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin is one of the fan favourites. It is a film packed with tales of friendship and romance. The last scene when Bunny (Ranbir) comes to Naina (Padukone) for good and proposes to her, melts our heart every time.

In this 2008 Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza starrer, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Aditi (D’Souza) and her best friend Jai (Khan) fall in love, but mistake it only as friendship. Eventually, both the characters realise their love for one another. When Aditi is shifting to a foreign country, Jai realises he needs to make his grand gesture. He dramatically stops her at the airport and makes a memorable proposal that leaves a mark on the audience.
Jab We Met
The 2007 Hindi rom-com film Jab We Met starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor gave us one of the most memorable characters Geet, and is a must-watch romantic film. The Imtiaz Ali directorial follows Aditya Kashyap (Shahid), a broken-hearted businessman who leaves his office and takes a train headed for Delhi where he meets Geet Dhillon (Kareena), a chatty Punjabi girl. After several ups and downs, heartbreaks, and confusions, the film is about how they find their way to each other in the end.
Love Aaj Kal
Another iconic romantic film for the Millennials from Imtiaz Ali is the Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer rom-com Love Aaj Kal. Even though the concept of soulmates has evolved with time, the film explores the ethos of unadulterated love, which never changes.
