Kantara, RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and The Kashmir Files, among other Indian films, have gone one step further after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has come out with a list of 301 feature films eligible for the upcoming Oscars 2023. Other Indian films that made it to the reminder list include Me Vasantrao and Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Iravin Nizhal, The Next Morning, and Vikrant Rona.
What Is Oscar’s Reminder List?
The qualification list includes films that can officially compete against each other under various categories to make an official entry in the Awards. On January 12, the 9,579 members who are eligible to vote will start filling out their ballots. The voting will end on January 17, and on January 24 the official Oscar nominees will be made public. The 95th edition of the Academy Awards is scheduled to be held on March 12, 2023.
Indian Films Shortlisted For Oscars 2023
Recently, in December, the AMPAS announced its shortlists in 10 categories at the upcoming Oscars 2023. The Indian films shortlisted for the upcoming Oscars include The Elephant Whisperers under the Best Documentary Short Film, Chhello Show under the Best International Feature Film, All That Breathes under the Best Documentary Film, and the Naattu Naatu song from SS Rajamouli’s RRR under the Best Original Score.
Directed by Pan Nalin, Chhello Show (Last Film Show) also features in the latest qualification list along with Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, Marathi titles Me Vasantrao and Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi, R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Iravin Nizhal and Kannada film Vikrant Rona.
