Kaantha Teaser Out: Release Date, Cast, Plot, And More Details Of Dulquer Salmaan's Period Drama Movie

Dulquer Salmaan treated his fans with the teaser of his highly anticipated Telugu-Tamil movie ‘Kaantha’ on his 42nd birthday on Monday. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film also stars Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles, along with Dulquer.

Sharing the teaser on his Instagram handle, Duequer wrote, “Step into the cinematic elegance of the golden era — witness the first teaser of @kaanthafilm (Telugu), now on @adityamusicindia. ▶️ https://youtu.be/NPFacH10cGQ. A @thespiritmedia and @dqswayfarerfilms production.”

Kaantha Teaser

The two-minute and twelve-second teaser of the period drama film features an estranged relationship between a father (portrayed by Samuthirakani) and a son (Dulquer). The teaser begins with the storyline following a movie announcement titled ‘Saantha’, which is the first Tamil horror film.

Samuthirakani is seen in the role of a director in the film, while Dulquer plays the role of a superstar of the Tamil film industry. In the film, Dulquer has been trained all his life by his father to act in films. Samuthirakani, who is known as ‘Ayya’ in the film, has a strained relationship with his son. Even though Dulquer respects his father more than anyone, Ayya is seen choking and throwing a chair at his son in the teaser. Dulquer reaches his breaking point after his father decides to make the female actor, played by Bhagyashri Borse, both the ‘hero and heroine’, prompting Dulquer to hit back. He goes on to tell everyone at the film’s studio that now it will be called ‘Kaantha’, not ‘Saantha’. The teaser ends with a hint at a brewing ego war between father and son.

Kaantha Cast, Crew, and Release Date

Directed by Selvamani, the film stars Dulquer, Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri as the leads. The music is given by Jhanu Chanthar, and the film is produced by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese under the banner of Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films. The film will be released on the silver screens on September 12, 2025.
