Haq Movie Plot

‘Haq’ draws inspiration from the real-life case of Mohd Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum, a turning point in India’s legal and social history. The story follows Shazia Bano (Yami Gautam Dhar), a woman abandoned by her husband Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi), who remarries and refuses to pay child support. When Shazia seeks justice, Abbas retaliates by pronouncing triple talaq.

Her struggle becomes a nationwide debate on personal law, women’s rights, and equality before the law, echoing issues that still resonate today.
