Barroz Box Office Collection Day 1: Mohanlal-Starrer Registers Underwhelming Start, Earns Rs 3.65 Crore

The Malayalam fantasy film starring South Indian superstar Mohanlal was released on December 25, on the occasion of the Christmas holiday. Despite generating so much buzz around the movie, it failed to attract the crowd as expected. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has a mediocre opening, earning only Rs 3.65 crore at the box office. Also directed by Mohanlal, the movie has earned less than the actor’s last theatrical release, Malaikottai Vaaliban, which was released in January this year. Here’s everything you need to know about Barroz’s box office collection.

According to reports, Mohanlal’s last movie Malaikottai Vaaliban, which was released earlier this year minted Rs 5.65 crore net in India on its opening day. Compared to this, Barroz experienced a disappointing start earning 39% than the last release of the actor. As per rumours, this movie was made on a budget of Rs 80 crores, which is high for Malayalam movies. This significant dip in the first-day collection makes it look even worse. According to the Indian Express report, Borroz saw a good 50% occupancy in the morning with a good number of viewers in the afternoon and evening. However, a significant dip was witnessed during the night show.

Mohanlal On Acting In Bollywood
Mohanlal extensively promoted Borroz before its release. During his promotion in Mumbai, he was asked if he would act in Bollywood. Reacting to this, Mohanlal said, “I have done a couple of Hindi films also (Company, RGV Ki Aag). But now, most of my other films are dubbed into Hindi. When somebody calls me for a role I'll definitely come and work. I don't mind. I don't have a choice. As actors, we don't have a choice. Let it come. Let it happen.”

Mohanlal stars as the titular character in Barroz, alongside a talented ensemble cast including Maya Rao West, Cesar Lorente Raton, and Tuhin Menon. Based on Jijo Punnoose's novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure, the film has garnered praise for Mohanlal's performance, but critics argue it falls short in terms of depth and substance.
