The iconic romance-thriller movie ‘Aitraaz’ released in 2004 completed its 20 years on Wednesday. The movie features Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Amrish Puri in pivotal roles. On the special occasion, filmmaker and producer of the film, Subhash Ghai announced its sequel ‘Aitraaz 2’. The original movie was directed by Abbas-Mustan and was a big hit at the box office. Ghai revealed the sequel is already in the works, backed by an incredible script and 3 years of effort.
Director and producer Ghai took to his Instagram and shared a still of Priyanka from the original movie, lauding her groundbreaking performance. While expressing his excitement on 20 years of the iconic movie, Ghai also announced its sequel, making fans go into a frenzy.

The Aitraaz fans started pouring the comment section with anticipation soon after. “Cannot wait, this will be iconic,” wrote a user. “Excited for Airtaz 2 Sir,” commented another user.

After the 2004 movie was released, Priyanka’s career shot to new heights, receiving praise for her role as the ambitious, bold, and cunning character of Sonia Roy. According to the Hindustan Times report, Ghai informed that they are currently in the process of finalising the female lead for the film. “We do have a wish list, but let’s see who will be finalised. It will be a bold role again which I am sure will get a lot of awards for the actor, as it did for Priyanka,” he asserts, ending with a tall claim, “This sequel will be better than Aitraaz.” said Ghai.

Aitraaz 2004 dealt with the bold and poignant issue of workplace harassment. Reportedly, Aitraaz is expected to be based on a similar concept.
