1. Right Direction For Sthapana

Always place the idol of Lord Ganesh in the North-East direction. According to the website Svastika, each direction is assigned to a presiding power, and the north-east corner is the Ishana corner. Ishana is a form of Shiva and is treated as the quarter of the devatas. East is also the direction of sunrise, and North is associated with Kubera.

2. Trunk Direction

The trunk of Lord Ganesha's idol should be towards his left side, which also represents Grihastha and brings peace at home. It is believed that right trunk is very strict and needs proper rituals.

3. Ideal Posture And Idol's Size

If you are planning to place the idol at home, it should be between 12 inches to 21 inches and choose and sitting posture, where Bappa is sitting with relaxed legs.
