Many fans are loving her acting and strong screen presence. Some viewers liked the story, while others found it slow.

Verity X Review: What Are Netizens Saying About The Film?

One X user wrote, "Spoilerless review of Verity: Anna Hathaway brilliantly cast in the role she was born to play. Unintentionally laughable film that, by odd coincidence, picks up around the introduction of nudity. Lazy directing jump scare-lalapalooza. A three headed hydra of bad acting."

Another user, who also shared a full review, tweeted, "I wasn't the biggest fan of #VerityMovie several months ago when it was called 'The Housemaid.' At least Anne Hathaway understood the assignment here! My review:"

A third person kept it short and wrote, "'Verity' Review: A Twist Too Late to Save the Plot #VerityMovie #Review"

Not everyone cared about the film's flaws, though. A fan tweeted, "Watched a review of the Verity movie on YouTube and she's saying it's trash 😭 but who cares, Anne Hathaway was phenomenal as always."

What Is Verity about?

Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is hired to finish a famous author's unfinished book series. The author is Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), who has been unable to speak or move after a car accident. While working at the Crawford house, Lowen finds a hidden manuscript that tells a very different story about Verity's marriage. Her husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett) tells it another way, and Lowen soon has to decide whom to believe.

Is Verity Worth Watching?

Critics have been just as divided. Variety called the film a listless adaptation and said the director's style does not suit an erotic thriller. Even so, reviewers have noted that Anne Hathaway's performance and her voiceover are among the film's strongest parts.
So the verdict from X is clear. Many viewers found the film unintentionally funny, slow or too predictable, but Anne Hathaway has got praise from almost everyone.
