Exactly 14 years after Student Of The Year hit theatres, Karan Johar is bringing the franchise back in a way fans did not see coming. Student Of The Year – After Dark, a JioHotstar Special with Shanaya Kapoor in the lead, will start streaming from 13 November.

What Karan Johar Said

Karan shared an 18-second teaser on Instagram and called it a new journey for the franchise. He promised "Gritty, gory, unabashed and absolute madness" and told fans to gear up. The campus glam of the earlier films is clearly not what this one is about.

A Very Different Student Of The Year

The 2012 film was all about school rivalry, love triangles and one shiny trophy. After Dark seems to leave that world behind. Reports say the series will be darker, edgier and far more intense, with one source describing it as "Class meets Euphoria".

Shanaya Kapoor Leads The Cast

This is Shanaya's first big OTT outing. She was recently seen in Tu Yaa Main and is reportedly playing a double role in the show. The franchise has launched fresh faces before, from Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra to Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.

Who Is Behind The Series

Karan has said that Reema Maya is directing, and that he wanted the series to carry her voice rather than his. It is produced under Dharmatic Entertainment, Dharma's digital arm.

When And Where To Watch

Student Of The Year – After Dark premieres on 13 November, only on JioHotstar.

With 6 episodes, Student Of The Year After Dark has already left fans curious. The first two films were happy, emotional and glamorous, but this one promises to be darker and edgier. All eyes are now on 13 November and of course the new addition to the franchise, Shanaya Kapoor
