Salman Khan is currently busy with his Bigg Boss 20 stint but fans are eagerly waiting to see him on the big screens again. It has been reported that the superstar will soon team up with Rang De Basanti fame director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for an intriguing project.

According to Filmfare, Salman will essay the role of Karna in the film but not much has been disclosed about the project yet. Neither the actor nor the filmmaker have officially confirmed the reports yet. However, Filmfare has confirmed that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Salman Khan will definitely collaborate.

For the unversed, Karn is a pivotal character in the epic Mahabharat. He was recently played by Telugu superstar Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD.

If reports turn out to be true, this will be the first time that Salman Khan will play the role of mythological character.

What's next for Salman Khan?

Salman Khan will next star in Maatrubhumi, which has been delayed several times. It was recently reported that the film will be screened for the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) soon.
On the contrary, Bollywood Hungama reported that these reports are not true. A source was quoted as saying, "With a heavy heart, I’d like to inform you that there has sadly been no update about its CBFC screening. The film is still stuck due to its China connection.”
“The makers are trying their best to find a solution and are in touch with the relevant government officials. Once a solution is achieved, the CBFC will pass the film, after which Maatrubhumi will release it in cinemas. This may happen within a few days or weeks, or it may take more time. But as of now, the status is the same as before for Maatrubhumi," the source added.
The movie was earlier titled Battle Of Galwan, based on the 2020 conflict between India and China.

Salman Khan was last seen in Sikandar in 2026 and later appeared in Raja Shivaji in a cameo role. He will next star in a Telugu film alongside Nayanthara.
