Ramayana is one of the most anticipated Indian movies of 2026, creating massive excitement among the fans. With the makers planning to reach a global audience, the grand trailer of Ramayana was scheduled to release on July 24 for the public. But to everyone’s disappointment, the release of its trailer has been delayed.
Why was the trailer of Ramayana delayed?
Producer Namit Malhotra issued an official statement on Instagram, revealing why he decided to delay the trailer release of Ramayana. He revealed that the makers want to unveil the trailer in a much grander spectacle.
The statement read, "Today is a very special moment for our Ramayana. My dream of taking Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In light of the above, we will be launching our trailer now globally at a later date."
“In over 100+ years of Indian cinema, this will become a moment of great pride where Ramayana will be shown to the entire world like any major global Hollywood film. This is special as it opens the door for people of the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm," it further added.

What happened at Ramayana trailer launch at San Diego Comic-Con 2026?
Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra attended the San Diego Comic-Con 2026 to launch the grand trailer of Ramayana. A Q&A session was held at the event, where the cast and crew answered some interesting by fans. While speaking at the event, Ranbir talked about why he is excited for Ramayana’s release. "I’m very excited to take my daughter to the film. It is going to be her first film on the big screen," he shared.
The movie boasts a talented star cast, also featuring Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Laxman, among others. It is scheduled to release in theatres on Diwali 2026.
