The death case of Disha Salian, who was the ex-manager of the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has been a mystery since the beginning. A new development finally happened as the Bombay High Court order a CBI probe into this case, while also observing that there were 'too many glaring discrepancies'.
Who was Disha Salian?
Disha Salian was a celebrity manager at Cornerstone and briefly worked for Sushant Singh Rajput. She only worked with him for a few weeks.
On June 8, 2020, she passed away after falling from a high-rise building in Malad, Mumbai. First, the Mumbai police registered an Accidental Death Report following her death. Later, the police claimed that her death was a case of suicide. But her father approached the Bombay High Court in 2025, alleging that his daughter had been gang-raped and murdered.
What did HC say in Disha Salian's investigation?
A bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale found that the investigation conducted in Disha Salian's death case was inadequate and insufficient, observing that there were too many glaring discrepancies. They added that the police investigation had raised more questions than it answered.
The court ordered the CBI to register an FIR and investigate the matter while directing the Mumbai Police to hand over all case papers to the CBI forthwith.
The court further clarified that the direction to register an FIR does not imply a finding of guilt against anyone. According to Bar and Bench, the bench said, "Nobody shall be treated as an accused unless, in the opinion of the investigating officer, there are sufficient grounds to raise reasonable suspicion against him, depending on the material collected during the investigation."
For the unversed, Disha's father, Satish Salian, approached the High Court in 2024 and alleged that authorities and politicians had misled and pressured him to accept the suicide narrative. He had sought a CBI probe into his daughter’s death and registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.
Senior Advocate Sudeep Pasbola appeared for Thackeray, whereas advocates Nilesh Ojha and Abhishek Mishra appeared for Salian.
