Who Is Shreyasi Singh? Bihar’s New Minister, Award-Winning Sharpshooter, and Her Net Worth

Shreyasi Singh is among the most dynamic young leaders in Bihar politics today, a decorated international shooter who has successfully transitioned into public life. On Thursday, November 20, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader took the oath as a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, marking yet another milestone in her fast-growing political journey.

Speaking after her swearing-in, she expressed gratitude to the people of Jamui and her family, adding that the new cabinet was a promising mix of youthful and seasoned faces.

Shreyasi Singh Political Career

Representing the Jamui Assembly constituency, Shreyasi Singh is serving her second consecutive term as MLA. The BJP once again trusted her to contest from Jamui in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Election, where she defeated RJD candidate Mohammad Shamshad Alam with a comfortable margin.

Earlier, in 2020, she had registered her first victory by defeating RJD’s Vijay Prakash with a margin of over 13,000 votes. Jamui, notably, has been a politically significant region and was previously represented in Parliament by Chirag Paswan.

Shreyasi comes from a family with deep political roots. Her father, late Digvijay Singh, was a respected leader who served as Union Minister and held seats in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Her mother, Putul Kumari, is also a former MP.

Shreyasi Singh Education and Professional Background

Shreyasi holds a Postgraduate degree in Business Administration. She completed her MBA from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies in 2018.

Before entering politics in 2020, she was already a well-established name in the world of Indian shooting.

Shreyasi has earned global recognition for India in trap shooting:

• Gold – 2018 Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast (Women’s Double Trap)
• Silver – 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow
• Bronze – 2014 Asian Games, Incheon (Double Trap Team)

Her excellence in sport earned her the prestigious Arjuna Award. She was also part of India’s shooting contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Even as a legislator, she continues to champion sports development, youth initiatives and women’s empowerment across Bihar.
