Women have been making it big in the tech world for a long time now. However, their roles have mostly been invisible. We at HerZindagi with our inaugural edition of WomenPreneur awards recognised the efforts of women in business across categories including the world of technology. Devika Pakruthi, the brain behind the tech startup Adhoc Network, a leading software training and development company took home the Editor's Choice award at the WomenPreneur Awards.
Adhoc Network provides both training and development services including technology workshops, mobile app development, web development, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and content creation tools.
Starting Adhoc Network From Scratch
Founder and CEO of Adhoc Network, Devika Pakruthi shared that she wished to start her own business while she was pursuing her bachelor's degree. When she was in her third year of B.Tech, she was selected for an internship in an American company with a stipend of ₹13,000 per month. Later, she was offered a full-time job in the company with a high package. However, she declined the offer because her ultimate goal was to start her own business.
Devika and her team developed an edutech app that got 2,000-3,000 daily users. It was a great achievement for the team within six months of the application's launch. As days passed, users kept increasing.
Talking about the startup, Pakruthi shared that the brand provides solutions to issues related to the connection of networks and platforms, analyses user needs and works as service designers. The company also gives training options for programming languages, technology workshops, project support during drop-in hours and by appointment online courses are available 24/7. Custom technology workshops for courses and student organisations are also provided. In terms of development, mobile app development, web development, IOT framework mobile app development, Application Programming interfaces (APIs) to support mobile functionality are offered. Pakruthi said, "My parents, family and friends thought it's a foolish decision to reject such a great job with a good package during the pandemic year (2020). However, I didn't want to be in a comfort zone, I wanted to take risks, and learn new things. So, finally I prepared my project report and started my own business at the age of 22 with my savings and some capital loan on 14th June 2020. Finally, that day, my dream came true. Initially it was hard, nothing comes easy. After all, it's a business. But after two years I finally got success and the world saw it."
