Sangeet is the most vibrant and scintillating soiree of all the wedding ceremonies and a perfect opportunity for the bride's & groom's side to break that ice. While I know our bride-to-be would kill it on the dance floor with her killer moves, what do you think is the perfect attire for our new age bride? I totally root for contemporary designs to create a beautiful play of modern and traditional elements. This season, let's keep the traditional 'lehengas' and 'anarkalis' at the bay and experiment and innovate with Indo-Western styles for a super fresh look.
Sangeet Outfit Ideas For Bride-To-Be
Since sangeet is more on the fun and festivity side, it is the best time to experiment with the fusion styles. The intricate embroidery and embellishments over the western silhouettes make for a beautiful attire. Also, don't forget that the outfit should be light, breathable, and hassle-free so that you can dance like no one is watching.
If you are a fan of Hollywood movies in the era of the 70s and 80s, you would totally know about the corset tops. How about a corset style blouse? It would be a waist-length blouse, unlike the normal blouse which covers only till the bust line. Pair it with a western drape skirt for an enchanting look. The cuts in your drape skirts will accentuate the beauty of your 'thumkas' and the beautiful zardosi work or tassels on your corset blouse will help you attain that traditional aura.
If you are planning to go a little more playful, the contemporary jumpsuit is your go-to look. Be it intricate traditional patterns over a flared pant or a saree style design with a ruffle hem, it is the most unconventional look a bride can opt for. The look can be completed with a fall of dupatta, oxidised jewellery, and statement belts for an ensemble to die for.
If you are still contemplating over safe options, then the 'Sharara' can never go wrong. However, why wear a traditional blouse over it when you can experiment with half-jacket style waist coast or a short kurta. Recently, I have created a beautiful design by mixing the traditional Rajasthani Gota Patti work with modern silhouettes and colour palettes to create elaborate outfits.
If you want to go a little dramatic, drapes and frills would be your best friend for sure. Experiment a lot with your sleeves if you want to focus on your shoulder or hands.
The 'IN' Trends
- The embellishments that will top the charts this year would be funky sequins and 'sheesha' work.
- Mustard Yellow, emerald green & powder pink would be the colour palette for the year.
The ' Out' Trends
- Capes behind your lehngas & jumpsuits.
- Very heavy, tightly fitted outfits.
Since it's a sangeet ceremony, keep your hands free. Ditch your bag or clutch for a miniature potli bag made from the same fabric as your outfit.
