Day 3 at the Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 saw designer duo Gauri and Nainika showcase their spring summer edit in association with ‘Caprese’. The most successful squash players in the country Joshna Chinappa, Tanvi Khanna, Anahat Singh, Dipika Pallikal and Abhay Singh walked the ramp for the duo donning their showstopper hats.
The spring summer 2024 collection was a blend of vintage grace and contemporary style. The designers did their signature gowns, dresses, frills, skirts and more in flowy grand silhouettes.
Nainika Karan from the designer duo spoke to HerZindagi exclusively and gave us all the details on what this collection is all about and how can it be styled to be made festive ready, We asked her what her inspiration was behind this collection, given that we saw such lovely pops of colour and florals all throughout?

The designer smilingly reverted saying, “Gauri & I have also been inspired by British dramas and their clothes are very feminine and very romantic. This time we’ve been in collaboration with Caprese and they’ve always been inspired by the Island of Capri and Gauri and I love the whole idea of the romantic Italian summer. Hence, the inspiration for both the bags and the clothes blended really well.”
“You can see a lot of bright colours in the collection and beautiful floral prints. So there are frill skirted romantic looks that we balanced out with t-shirts to make it look casual as well. A lot of shirt dresses, wrap dresses - stuff that is very easy to wear apart from the usual midis and gowns. There were a lot of wearable pieces, I would say that were in cotton and silk cotton.”
We then asked her what are her top picks from this collection for the upcoming festive season, which women can style for the festivities and spring summer season alike?

She promptly responded, “I think for the festive season we have a lot of nice skirts from the show, and people can mix and match them the way they want to. So, you can wear them with a formal top and some jewellery and actually wear these big skirts with a blouse, or a shirt, or a simple turtleneck and glamourise the whole look with a necklace or some earrings. I think that is a very distinct and different look that we have in the show that could give you an Indo-western sort of look.”
