Here we will try understanding from Agnes Chen, National Technical Head, Streax Professional about mistakes that have the potential of damaging your hair, even though you are at home and what measures should be taken to avoid these mistakes and damages.
During the days when you are at home, your hair gets damaged mostly due to neglection. Usually, the need for washing hair when scalp and hair seem to be greasy and dirty is neglected and delayed. People also tend to neglect their hair and scalp care and have dirty scalps and unconditioned hair lengths. As a result, the hair starts looking dry and rough. Hair is roughly tied up in a bun all day long with poor quality rubber bands or clips. This often results in hair breakage.

Overcoming laziness and regular cleansing of scalp and hair would be the first advice for situations like the present lockdown. Shampoo your hair at least 3 times a week, using the right products. In summers, when we tend to sweat more leaving scalp become oily and greasy, using a purifying shampoo can be immensely helpful.
Conditioning the hair is mandatory and should be done regularly. You can nourish the lengths and ends of the hair by using the proper masque or conditioner and keep it applied on the hair for a minimum of 3-5 mins.
Do not use extremely hot water to wash your hair as this makes the cuticles swollen, giving the hair a dry, rough, and unmanageable look. Always shampoo and condition your hair using lukewarm or cold water.
Always keep a serum handy to smoothen and protect the hair.
Use the perk of being at home to let your hair naturally, without using a hairdryer. This keeps your cuticles closed which will make hair looks healthy and vibrant.
Lukewarm oil champi helps blood circulation on the scalp and this, in turn, helps in hair growth. Oil massage is deeply relaxing and promotes a sense of contentment. It is an excellent stress buster too.
Alternate between a hair spa and a hair masque for extra nourish and moisturise the hair.

After shampoo, apply a nourishing hair spa on the ends of your hair and leave it in your hair for 20 mins. During these 20 mins, use your fingers to massage the scalp. This helps to relax and encourages blood circulation on the scalp. After 20 mins, rinse the hair with cold water and pat towel to soak access water and let it dry naturally.
- Do not use heat.
- Do hot oil massage at home once a week is helpful for your hair and scalp.
- Refrain from brushing hair vigorously.
- Keep your hair tied gently in a loose braid as this helps to detangle the hair and keeps the moisture locked in.
