The nationwide celebration of Shri Ram ‘pran pratishtha’ or consecration ceremony has found its way into the fashion and jewellery industry. Brands are launching collection themed after Lord Shri Ram and his much awaited divine abode in his birthplace, Ayodhya. Artists, designers and brands from all over the country have joined forces to launch collections of hand painted designs, ‘kalamkari motifs’, digital prints, ‘Ram Mandir’ inspired jewellery and much more.

Serving a heartfelt tribute to Lord Shri Ram, the jewellery brand PP Jewellers by Pawan Gupta jumped on the topical bandwagon launching their new Ayodhya collection. It features Ram Mandir inspired jewellery items that are made from 22-carat gold, precious stones like rubies, emeralds and precious pearls. The collection boasts of necklace, earrings, bracelets, rings and more.
Making an endeavour to ‘revive old textiles and breathing new life into them’, Ajay Bhoj, a handloom revivalist from Delhi has designed a Ramavali shawl which is inspired by a historic design. Bhoj was quoted saying, “We took inspiration from the design of a 180-year-old shawl from Murshidabad, West Bengal, recreating it in real gold and silver Banarasi zari work. It has Shri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram written over 1,000 times.”

The mix of spirituality along with style struck the right chord with the Gen Z fashion enthusiasts as streetwear and accessories brands dedicated collections to Lord Shri Ram. Prabhu Bhakti which is an online store recently launched a new collection called Ram Mandir, that features t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts with illustrations of Lord Shri Ram. The founder of the brand Samast Ahlawat was quoted saying, “We’re looking to connect fashion with devotion for the younger generations, which is why this collection has got a great response.”

The trend has made its way into occasion wear, with designer Gautam Gupta explaining,“Our Paithani saree has kalamkari motifs of Ram Darbaar on the pallu. The intersection of style and spirituality appeals to both Gen Z and millennials. These sarees can be worn during celebrations and festive occasions alike.”

Designer Neha Vadhera has launched a hand painted saree collection inspired by Lord Shri Ram that are available with customisations. The designer was quoted saying, “I’ve expressed my feelings for Shri Ram through them.”
