Who Is Shwetha Menon?

Shwetha Menon is an Indian actress and former model who has appeared in over 50 films across Malayalam, Hindi, and other regional languages. She is best known for her roles in critically acclaimed films like ‘Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha’, ‘Salt N’ Pepper’, and ‘Kalimannu’. Apart from acting, she has also worked as a television anchor and a reality show contestant. Shwetha gained popularity not just for her performances but also for breaking stereotypes in the film industry.

Shwetha Menon was recently named in an FIR filed by the Ernakulam Central Police in Kerala. The case was registered following a court directive based on a complaint by social activist Martin Menachery. The complaint alleges that Shwetha featured in obscene films and ads that were circulated online for financial gain. Films like ‘Rathinirvedam’ and ‘Kalimannu’, along with a condom advertisement, have been named in the case. She has been booked under various provisions of the Prevention of Obscenity Act, the Information Technology Act, and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

Shwetha was born on April 23, 1974, in Chandigarh, into a Malayali family. Her father, T.V. Narayanankutti, was in the Indian Air Force, and her mother, Sarada Menon, is a homemaker. Because of her father's career, Shwetha grew up in different parts of India. Her upbringing was largely disciplined and rooted in traditional values, but she always had a creative spark.

She began her film career with the Malayalam movie ‘Anaswaram’ (1991) opposite Mammootty. Later, she made a name in Bollywood with films like ‘Asoka’ (alongside Shah Rukh Khan), ‘Bandhan’ (with Salman Khan), and ‘Maqbool’. She also took part in beauty pageants and was the third runner-up in the Femina Miss India 1994, following Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai. Over the years, she shifted her focus to Malayalam cinema, where she received multiple awards, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress twice.

Shwetha Menon’s Relationships

Shwetha Menon married Sreevalsan Menon in 2011. The couple has a daughter together.
