Former actress Jessica Mann returned to the witness stand after five years, delivering emotional testimony about her alleged rape by disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in 2013. Mann, now 38, broke down in tears as she described the traumatic incident that occurred in a DoubleTree Hotel room in Midtown Manhattan.
During her testimony, Mann provided harrowing details of how Weinstein allegedly trapped her in the hotel room, administered a self-injection for erectile dysfunction, and proceeded to force himself upon her despite her resistance.
"This is about the moment where I just gave up," Mann testified, recalling how Weinstein blocked the door and demanded she undress, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Following the assault, Mann testified she discovered a discarded needle in the trash with a label containing "necro-something."
"I found on Google that it basically meant 'dead penis,'" she told the jury, explaining that the medication had limited usage. "I was freaked out. Did I get exposed to something? It was scary."
Despite the traumatic nature of their encounters, Mann acknowledged maintaining a complex relationship with Weinstein afterwards.
"I just decided to have a relationship with him. I'm sorry if that's a bad decision. I just did. I also just wanted to buy time because I really didn't know how to handle it," she explained through tears.
Mann characterised Weinstein as having dual personalities, comparing him to the literary character "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde." She elaborated that while he could be validating at times, rejection would trigger what she termed his "Monster side."

"Sometimes he validated me so much... but the word 'No' was like a trigger to him. This other personality, I called it 'The Monster side', would come out," Mann stated.
According to Mann's testimony, the 2013 hotel incident wasn't their first problematic encounter. She described an earlier meeting in Los Angeles where Weinstein allegedly performed unwanted oral sex on her during what was supposed to be a professional meeting about a script for ‘Vampire Academy.’
Mann explained that Weinstein's extensive influence and connections, including with former US President Bill Clinton, contributed to her fear of reporting the alleged assaults.
"I remember imagining if I ever said anything, he would call his friend and the Secret Service would come get me," she testified, as reported by The New York Post.
She emphasised that she never accepted financial compensation from Weinstein. "It just felt like you're trying to pay me like a dirty prostitute. I never wanted his dirty money. I wasn't for sale."
Born in October 1985, Jessica Mann worked as an actress with credits including ‘This Isn't Funny’ (2015), ‘Asylum: Twisted Horror and Fantasy Tales’ (2020), and ‘Cavemen’ (2013).

The current proceedings represent a retrial after Weinstein's 2020 conviction, where he was found guilty of third-degree rape against Mann was overturned on procedural grounds. If convicted on the most serious rape charge related to Mann's allegations in this new trial, Weinstein could face up to 25 years in prison.
Mann is the third and final accuser to testify in the retrial. Former teen model Kaja Sokola and former production assistant Miriam ‘Mimi’ Haley previously took the stand with similar allegations against the former film producer.
Weinstein, now 73, has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The allegations against Weinstein extend far beyond the current trial. Over 100 women have accused the former film executive of various forms of sexual misconduct, from harassment to rape, leading to investigations in multiple jurisdictions including Los Angeles, New York, and London.
After his initial New York conviction in 2020, which resulted in a 23-year sentence, Weinstein was separately convicted in Los Angeles on charges including rape and sexual assault, receiving an additional 16-year sentence. The London Metropolitan Police have also formally charged him with two counts of indecent assault.
The case has been instrumental in highlighting what has become known as the ‘Weinstein effect,’ demonstrating how powerful figures previously considered untouchable can face legal consequences for sexual misconduct allegations.
