Kangana Ranaut’s journey in Bollywood has always been marked by controversy, not only due to her choice of roles but also because of her outspoken views on various issues. As her controversial movie ‘Emergency’ is set for release, she’s in the news again, this time with the announcement that ‘Queen 2’ is officially in the works.
During an exclusive interview at the Pinkvilla Masterclass, director, Vikas Bahl officially acknowledged the development of ‘Queen 2’, stating, "We have been working on Queen 2 for a while now and finally have something concrete."
The year 2013 was transformative. ‘Queen’ wasn't just a film; it was a cultural phenomenon that redefined the narrative of female independence in Indian cinema. A story of Rani Mehra – a sheltered, middle-class girl abandoned at the wedding– became a metaphorical journey of countless Indian women breaking free from societal constraints.
When the #MeToo movement swept through Bollywood, Ranaut stood at its epicentre, wielding her truth like a sharp-edged sword. Her allegations against director Vikas Bahl were not mere accusations but a systematic deconstruction of toxic workplace behaviour.

In an interview with India Today, Kangana Ranaut provided a detailed account of her professional experiences with director Vikas Bahl during the filming of ‘Queen’. Her testimony offered insights into the complex dynamics of workplace interactions in the film industry.
Ranaut spoke openly about Bahl's personal conduct, "Even though Vikas was married back in 2014 when we were filming Queen, he bragged about having casual sex with a new partner every other day."
She described her discomfort with their interactions, "I often told him off. He was scared of me but still every time we met, socially greeted and hugged each other, he'd bury his face in my neck and hold me really tight and breathe in the smell of my hair. It took me great amount of strength and effort to pull myself out of his embrace. He'd say, 'I love how you smell K.'"
Kangana continued to express her belief in the accuser, saying, "I could tell something is wrong with him. I believe this girl. But what is sad is that now that Phantom has been dissolved, many are attacking him, even though the girl asked for help long ago. At that time, the story was conveniently killed, but I supported her at that time as well."
She also revealed that when Vikas Bahl approached her with a script for a project about a gold medallist from Haryana, her support for the accuser led to a rift between them. "When I supported the girl, he stopped talking to me. I didn’t mind losing out on a good script, and I never called him either. I was determined to say what I felt was right," Kangana added.
