Kangana Ranaut Renovates Century-Old Bungalow in Old Delhi, Shares Housewarming Pics Of Her New Abode

The actress took to Instagram to announce, “Finally got some time to shift to the Delhi MP house.” She posted pictures and videos from the ceremony, where she was seen wearing a red and white Kanjivaram saree, adorned with delicate golden jewellery. The rituals were attended by her close family members, including her nephews.

Kangana’s official residence isn’t just a standard government property. It's a century-old bungalow, restored and redesigned for her stay as an elected representative. The actress gave credit to interior architect Darshini for revamping the space, writing, “It was not easy to restore a century-old MP house. Thanks dear @design_by_darshini for doing this.”

In one of the photos, Kangana was seen posing with designer Darshini. Maitri Boda, who attended the ceremony, said, “The energy of the house was peaceful. It’s a beautiful blend of heritage and minimalism. Kangana has added a personal touch that still honours the legacy of the house. The whole vibe was warm and traditional, yet very modern.”

Later in the day, the actress also posted a candid moment of herself enjoying Delhi’s iconic street food, captioning it with a smile.

About Kangana Ranaut’s Delhi MP House

Interior architect and designer Darshini, who led the restoration of Kangana Ranaut’s government-allotted MP bungalow in New Delhi, shared her thoughts on the project on social media. The designer offered insight into the vision, effort, and emotion behind reviving the century-old residence.

Darshini described the restoration as a deeply thoughtful process, aimed at preserving the bungalow’s original character. “Restoring a decades-old bungalow in the heart of Delhi is no small task, especially when the brief is to bring it back to its original soul. No frills, no shortcuts, just patience, intuition, and a deep respect for what once was,” she wrote.

She explained that layers were peeled back, quite literally, to reveal the home’s original layout, natural flow, and understated dignity.

According to Darshini, the house carries more than architectural weight. It symbolises a milestone in Kangana Ranaut’s life — her first official residence as a Member of Parliament. “It’s a home that holds weight. Not just architecturally, but symbolically. This is Kangana Ranaut’s first bungalow as a Member of Parliament — a space that marks a new milestone in her journey,” she added.

Every design decision was made with intention, reflecting qualities like strength, authenticity, and individuality — traits associated with the actress-turned-politician.

Hand-painted details were central to the aesthetic. Darshini shared that art had been infused across the space through painted walls, decorated ceilings, and intricate detailing. “Hand painting played a huge role in that. From intricate art across walls and ceilings to subtle craft woven into corners, every decision was intentional,” she noted.

She described the process as slow but meaningful, allowing the home to reflect Kangana’s own personality — “Fierce yet grounded. Classic, but unafraid to stand out.”

This move comes almost a year after Kangana was elected as MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency in 2024. In September 2024, Zapkey India reported that she sold her Bandra bungalow for Rs 32 crore. The property, located in the upscale Pali Hill area, was originally purchased in 2017 for Rs 20.7 crore. In December 2022, she took a Rs 27 crore loan against the same property, which had also doubled as the office for her production banner, Manikarnika Films.
