Actor Vicky Kaushal and filmmaker Karan Johar had announced their first venture together, Govinda Naam Mera, through a fun video a couple of months earlier. The film was initially scheduled to release in theatres on June 11, 2022. However, it was halted and now it is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on December 16.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, the film also stars Kiara Advani as Kaushal’s girlfriend and Bhumi Pednekar as his wife. The film has received mixed reactions from netizens on social media as well as critics.

While some were surprised by the film’s performance and called it a fun watch, some pointed out that it was not something put of the box and that male actors get credit for ‘bare minimum’. A Twitter user described the film as “wholesome, fun, fast-paced, and full of surprises and humour” while praising Advani and Kaushal. Further, the user added that the film was the “Perfect weekend masala.”
