Mahima Makwana, who is now being considered a rising star in Bollywood, once had too face several difficulties and took acting as a job from a very young age. Know her inspiring story.

Who is Mahima Makwana?

Mahima Makwana is an Indian actress who started her career as a child artist in a television show and got lead roles later. She has now moved to Bollywood and has also become a known face in the world of OTT. Even though she is only 27, she has several acting roles in her credits.

How did a tragedy change Mahima's life and her decision to take up acting?

Mahima lost her father, a construction worker, when she was only four months old. At the young age of nine, she started auditioning for acting roles to support her single mother.

She starred in Mohe Rang De, Balika Vadhu, CID, Aahat, Sawaare Sabke Sapne... Preeto, and Miley Jab Hum Tum as a child artiste. But her first prominence came after she starred in Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke from 2012 to 2015, when she was only 13. Her role as Rachana made her a household name and also opened many doors for her.

“I don't have any memories of working in Baalika Vadhu. The pivotal show that gave me fame and success and made me a household name was Sapne Suhaane Ladakpan Ke. I was 13 at that point. That serial gave me my first sense of fame, a realisation that I want to do this for as long as I can,” she recalled, while speaking to SCREEN.

She further added, “It was hard to have a single parent, to hold my own, and to make a life from scratch, but it's not impossible. You just have to be at it. I have earned it; I am very humbled when I say it.”

How did Mahima Makwana transition to Bollywood?

Following the success of Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Mahima bagged other lead roles in shows like Adhuri Kahaani Hamari, Rishton Ka Chakravyuh, Mariam Khan - Reporting Live and Shubharambh.

Along with TV, she was quietly working in films as well and made her Telugu debut with the film Venkatapuram in 2017. Her Bollywood debut happened in 2021 with Antim: The Final Truth, which was produced by Salman Khan. Even though she had a 10-minute role in the film, Mahima gained praise and started getting more recognition.

“Antim opened so many doors for me. I never imagined that I would start with a Salman Khan film. It was a 10-minute part. And then, it was a completely different journey altogether,” the actress added.

She became a prominent face on OTT as well with Tumse Na Ho Payega, Rangbaaz, Flesh, Dharma Production's Showtime, and most recently 'Musafir Cafe'.

There is no looking back for Mahima Makwana now as she has already become a fan-favourite with Musafir Cafe. She will return in its second season as well.

Her journey is a true testament to her hard work and talent, and the audience is delighted to see a fresh face on the screens.
