CID, one of India’s most favourite and longest-running television series in India, lost one of its most precious cast members. CID fame actor Dinesh Phadnis popularly known as Freddy among the fans passed away at midnight at a hospital in Mumbai after liver damage problems. A few days ago, Dinesh Phadnis was hospitalised at Tunga Hospital, located in Mumbai. The actor has become famous for playing Fredericks in the hit television series CID.
1990s kids' childhood is complete without CID. And Dinesh Phadnis attracted a lot of attention from fans and became a household name. His tenure in the program was from 1998 till 2018. The audience loved his performance because of his funny character.
CID Fame Actor Dinesh Phadnis Passes Away
While confirming this sad news of his friend, actor Dayanand Shetty shared that Dinesh died of multiple organ failure to Indian Express. The actor said, “ Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am. There were a lot of complications and he was removed from the ventilator last night.” The actor’s funeral will take place in Mumbai at 10.30 am. As per reports, the entire cast of CID visited Dinesh’s home to pay their last respect.
Dayanand Shetty played the role of Inspector Daya in CID.
His co-star actor Aditya Srivastava told PTI “Dinesh left us around 12:08 am. We know that he had liver issues and it had an impact on the other organs. He was really unwell for two-three days. He couldn’t survive.”

CID premiered on Sony Entertainment Television for two decades starting in 1998. The show was created by BP Singh. It is one of the longest-running television series in India and ran for 20 years which is highly loved by people to date. (Hindi TV Serials That Shaped Our Childhood)
The first episode started on 21 January 1998 and the last episode on 27 October 2018.
