The Business Of Fame: Do Celebs Pay To Get Clicked? Paparazzi Pallav Paliwal Discloses

We are all obsessed with celebrities, no? Right from celeb gossip to looks, we just can't have enough of it. We have to thank the paparazzi who get us updates from the world of celebs on our phones every day. From pictures of their airport looks to videos of their casual outings around the country, they deliver loads of fresh celeb content to the world daily.

Following celebrities around the city, waiting at the airport for hours to get a few clicks of our favourite celebrities, being a paparazzi isn't the easiest. Especially when many slam paparazzi for glamourising celebrities for fancy pay. But what's the truth? We spoke to Mumbai paparazzi Pallav Paliwal to understand how the paparazzi functions. 

Do Celebrities Call Paparazzi To Get Themselves Clicked?

Paliwal said, “No celebrities ever call paparazzi to get themselves clicked. At times, it is their PRs who call us to click them. However, they never call or pay us. Whenever there is a film promotion, we are contacted by their PRs or given tip-offs that the celebrities will be at a certain place.” Well, clearly, celebrities aren’t the ones calling the paparazzi or paying them for clicking those pictures and videos. 

How Do Celebrities React To Getting Papped?

While we see a lot of celebrities posing for the paparazzi every time they are spotted by them around the city, many are seen getting angry with the paparazzi. We asked Pallav which Bollywood celebrities hate getting papped. He said, “I don’t think anyone hates getting papped by ya some celebrities like Rishi Kapoor used to hate it, he used to shout, Jaya Bachchan too.”

“Reaction is usually okay, they are happy. They know it is our job, mostly we explore the opportunities ourselves, at times, it is a matter of chance that we spot them around the city,” he added. 

Does Paparazzi Have A Dedicated Team At The Airport?

If you are an Instagram addict, you know, most celebrities are papped at the airport. Every day, our feed is flooded with pictures and videos of our favourite celebrities from the airport. So, does the paparazzi have a dedicated team at the airport to bring us all those airport looks? Well, the answer is no! “Sometimes we get a tip-off that a celebrity is travelling abroad. If they are travelling in the morning, we sometimes get to know about it the night before. However, we mostly explore the city ourselves.”

How Long Do Paparazzi Wait For Pictures?

Mumbai-based paparazzi, Pallav Paliwal also shared that there are times when the photographers wait for long hours to get celebrity pictures. However, he added that this is mostly when celebrity couples are present at the event. He further cited an example from an event where recently Tamannah Bhatia and Vijay Varma, Bollywood’s newest couple were spotted at an event together and since they are making news, the team stayed for longer to get the couple’s pictures.

Who Is The Most Pap Friendly?

We were further curious to know who was among the most paparazzi-friendly celebrities in Bollywood. Paparazzi Pallav Paliwal said, “Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Uorfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Sara Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor are the most pap-friendly celebrities.”
