Bollywood legend Aamir Khan is set to be honored with the Screen Icon Award at the upcoming 35th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF). The award recognises outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to Asian cinema and exerted a defining impact on the global film landscape.

Aamir Khan’s career spans over three decades, during which he earned a reputation as one of Indian cinema’s most meticulous and versatile talents. Often dubbed "Mr. Perfectionist," Khan has consistently balanced mainstream commercial appeal with socially conscious storytelling.

The festival praised Aamir Khan for his pivotal role in expanding the global footprint of Indian cinema. Through iconic titles such as the Oscar-nominated Lagaan (2001), 3 Idiots (2009), PK (2014), and Dangal (2016), Khan bridged cultural divides, commanding unprecedented box-office success across East Asia, particularly in China.

When Is The 35th Singapore International Film Festival Taking Place ?

The 35th Singapore International Film Festival will take place from 21st October to 1st November 2026. Apart from Aamir Khan, the event will also feature many prominent Asian filmmakers, and directors. The festival will feature South Korean political thriller "The Assassin", starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and Lee Min-ho. Director Hur Jin-ho and cast members Shim Eun-kyung and Park Sung-hoon will attend the opening.
