Many young professionals are choosing jobs based on affordability rather than passion. Some are moving back to smaller cities, while others are preferring remote work opportunities to reduce living expenses.

Another major reason behind this “waiting phase” is social comparison. Social media constantly showcases luxury lifestyles, dream weddings, foreign vacations, and career achievements, making many young adults feel left behind.

This pressure often creates anxiety around success and adulthood. Even financially responsible individuals may feel like they are “late” in life compared to others online.

As a result, many people are slowing down, reassessing priorities, and choosing stability over societal expectations.

Success Looks Different Nowadays

Unlike older generations, Gen Z and millennials are redefining what success means. For many, success is no longer only about owning property or reaching leadership positions. It is also about work-life balance, flexibility, mental peace, and financial independence.

Young adults today are more cautious about burnout and are trying to build lives that feel emotionally sustainable, not just socially impressive.

Despite financial stress and uncertainty, optimism still exists. Most young people have not given up on their dreams or careers; they are simply waiting for the right time.

Higher education, wedding plans, business ideas, and travel goals dreams still matter. But in today’s economy, patience and practicality are becoming just as important as ambition. Perhaps this generation is not “late” in life. Maybe they are simply choosing to move at a pace that feels realistic in an increasingly expensive world.
