The Puja room in our home is believed to be the revered space where devotion meets destiny. Our expert, BV Damodar Maharaj, the founder of Sharnagati Madhva Gaudiya Math, told us about seven special things to keep in the Puja room to attract good luck.
Things To Keep In Puja Room For Good Luck
- Swastika - “Adorn the entrance of your prayer room with the Swastika symbol. This ancient glyph is renowned for dispelling obstacles and ushering in prosperity and auspiciousness,” said Maharaj Ji.
- Kalash -Keep a Kalash (sacred water pot) in your prayer room but make sure to look after its maintenance. You can choose a Kalash made from any material, clay, brass, or copper. Damodar Ji said, “Fill it with water, cover it with a white cloth, and place it within your sacred space. Refresh the water during festivals or special occasions to appease the deities and enhance the wealth and prosperity of your home.”
- Garuda Bell - It is said that keeping a bell adorned with the Garuda emblem in your home temple and ringing it during offerings and aartis ensures that the deities receive and accept your worship and offerings.

- Peacock Feather - “The peacock feather is considered profoundly auspicious. Place it in a location where it remains in the direct view of the deity. This not only attracts peace, prosperity, and happiness but also aids in eliminating lizards from the vicinity,” said BV Damodar.
- Cow Representation - Maharaj Ji said, “Incorporate a representation of a cow in your prayer room. Symbolising the abode of all deities, including Lakshmi Narayana, the presence of a cow, whether in brass, copper, silver, or Ashtadhatu, alongside feeding the first roti of the day to a cow outside, is said to eliminate various obstacles and bring divine blessings.”
- Conch Shell - “The conch shell is a pivotal component of any prayer room. Its sound is believed to purify the environment by dispelling negative energies and inviting positive and divine forces.”
